A Week Of Gratitude
Boy, what a week, huh?
A couple of years ago, when Jared and I started this whole project, I’m not sure either of us imagined the roads it would take us down. As I type this from the Media Center at the PGA freaking Championship, I felt compelled to just say…
Thanks.
Thank you to the PGA of America for granting us this opportunity to come out and experience a major in this capacity. The access we were given was more than we deserved and we truly enjoyed providing our audience an inside look at our hometown major championship.
Thank you to Roger Steele, Marty Smith and all of the big names who took the time to chat with us this week. Huge shoutout to our rowmate, Brendan Quinn of The Athletic, for the trips down NCAA basketball memory lane - we’ll give ya a shout next time we’re up north!
Thank you to Cary Cozby, for consistently opening your doors to us and your team for always being friendly and welcoming, making us feel special. Your crew is second to none and it was a pleasure to see you all bounce from the Senior PGA to the PGA Championship in such stride.
Thank you to Russ Myers, the Southern Hills superintendent. You, your grounds team and the volunteers were able to highlight Tulsa’s gem, showing there’s a lot more beauty in this flyover state than one might expect. From start to finish, the course became the real star of the week due to your tireless effort and work.
This entire project has only gotten to where it is because of Jared’s tireless hard work. Ever notice that his name appears almost exclusively as the author on all of our stories? That’s because he’s a total badass and WAY better than I am at writing. So Jared, thanks big dawg.
Lastly, thanks for all of you reading this - The Collective. You’ve supported us, followed us and allowed us to experiment with our content. This week, so many of you sought us out (we’re sorry to those we missed!) and told us so many nice things. Even in passing, the “love the hat!” comments gave us a pep in our step.
At the time of writing this, we’re 33 Twitter followers away from 2,500. That number is something we will celebrate, but that’s not the ultimate goal. We’ve got some cool projects coming up that we’re really excited for and we think you’ll love them too.
Keep an eye out for The Loop - kicking off this summer.
